On Saturday, September 3rd the Toronto Loves Kicks family teamed up with major community partners within the Lawrence Heights Community to host the United We Sole back to school event. The event took place on the Nike Battle Grounds court, which was rebuilt years ago to honour Phillip Dixon-one of the best basketball talents to come out the area. The main event was comprised of the TLK Select All-Star team playing against the PUSH Community Youth Basketball team. The game was intense, with the youth trying to show the “experienced” TLK team that they could complete. All in all, the game was a major success. Although it marked the end of another summer, it was great to see the whole community come together to celebrate the talents that are within our community.
I would personally like to give a special shout out to the following: J-BO for doing a great job with the PUSH team this summer; Berg for helping to bring out the old and new community members; Dulaa for helping to organize the event; Peter for helping to make the day possible; all the staff members at Pathways To Education, The City of Toronto and The Unison Health and Community Services ; and everyone else that came together to make the day memorable.
United We All Rise
Peace
BTW the TLK team did win 72-80……
