Recently TLK was invited to a Dickie’s “What’s your fit?” interment and interactive event held at the very nostalgic Community 54. Those who haven’t been to Community 54 will be taken back by the throw back renaissance of the late 80′s/early 90′s feel to this dope spot right in our very own backyard, Parkdale or PK to those real heads out there.
As you walk through the doors you’re greeted with a set of arcade video game machines from our past with dope titles like NBA Jam, Galactica, PAC-Man and Terminator: Judgement Day, with some crazy snapbacks, authentic indie apparel brands, varsity jackets and of course sneakers which range from Nike to Converse. What’s actually crazy about this spot is if it were 15 – 17 years ago it would have been right across the street from Community 54 and be called Joe’s Arcade. Just a little history 101 for those of you who think PK is newly discovered when in fact it’s the one neighbourhood in the City where festivities come to us for that Urban Culture feel.
As you will see in the video below, Mark, Product Consultant at Dickies takes us on a little ride into the evolution of Dickies past to present day. ”Where expanding and connecting to a broader consumor base” It just so happens in the process of this Dickies event that you can’t help but adapt the key phrase in the environment which was, “What’s your fit? Loose, Slim or Regular”. Check out the video below to see for yourself.
A special shout out to our friends at Converse, Dickies and Community 54, especially Micki and her team – you’re a beast and Toronto Loves Kicks is happy you invited us to the jungle!
